Kilvrough Estate         Ilston        Kittle        Parkmill        Pennard       Southgate

In the south of the Gower Peninsular in South Wales, lie the Villages of Ilston, Kittle, Parkmill, Pennard, and Southgate which, together with their hamlets and lands, owe most of their 'modern' existence principally to the sale of the Kilvrough Estate in 1920.

Prior to 1920 each Village had its own historical identity, its own inhabitants and their occupations etc (much of which has already been researched by other Local Historians), although the intention here is to reveal through the eyes of inhabitants and surviving Documents, Minutes, Maps and other official records, a History of Pennard and its surrounding Villages from its post-1920 development onwards.

Although there will hopefully be much to interest you on this site, as well as for you to discover, to be amazed by, and to personally recognise, this is where you are invited to add your own memories, comments etc on our Google Groups page - not only to help expand others' knowledge of our Villages, but to also provide our children and grandchildren etc with a history of which they can justifiably be proud.

Based on research already personally undertaken, as well as on your own memories, photographs, drawings, documents, diaries, and anything else you feel will be of use, this website will both reflect and be of the History of Pennard and its area, and hopefully, in the not too distant future, will also help to be the basis for the formation of a Pennard & Area Local History Group.

Please subscribe to the Pennard & Area Local History Project by entering your email address into the box below and by clicking on 'Subscribe'. Joining is absolutely free, and you will be able to read others' memories, and leave your own for others to read.
